Black Stars Captain Andre Ayew Questioned By Parliament Over Poor AFCON Campaign

Andre Ayew, the captain of the Black Stars, appeared before Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports to answer questions about the national team’s dreadful performance at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

Months ago, the Parliament’s Select Committee on Youth and Sports launched an investigation into the Stars’ poor AFCON campaign and demanded that team captain Ayew appear to answer questions about their poor performance.

However, the Al Sadd winger’s hectic schedule and club engagements made it difficult for him to accept their invitation, but Ayew finally met with the committee on Thursday.

After answering questions from the committee members, the 31-year-old presented them with a signed jersey.

Ghana exited the tournament with just one point from Group C. Morocco beat the Black Stars 1-0, 1-1 draw with Gabon and was beaten 3-2 by tournament newcomers Comoros Islands.

Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac was sacked after the poor display at Africa’s prestigious tournament.
