Diamond League: 100m Hurdles African Record For Tobi Amusan And Other Results

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan produced the African highlight of the Paris Diamond League held on Saturday, June 18. The hurdler broke her African 100m hurdles record by 0.01, with 12.41, moving up to 3rd in the 2022 world Top lists.

The big surprise came from South Africa’s Luxolo Adams who won the 200m from lane 8, setting a big PB of 19.82. The bronze medallist from the 2018 African championships in Asaba now become the 5th fastest African ever on the distance.

Ethiopia’s Olympic 10000m champion Selemon Barega dominated the 5000m in 12:56.19, almost 10 seconds ahead of Burundi’s Thierry Ndikumwenayo (13:05.24) and reigning world champion Muktar Edris (13:06.54)

Kenyan-born Bahrain representative Winfred Mutile Yavi clocked a 2022 world lead in the 3000m steeplechase (8:56.55) as Ethiopian youngster Sembo Alemayehu placed second in a new PB of 9:09.19.

Ivory Coast’s Marie-Josée Ta Lou placed 3rd of the women’s 100m in a season’s best of 11.01; South Africa’s Zakhiti Nene dipped under 45 in the men’s 400m (44.99); Algeria’s Mohamed Ali Gouaned set a new PB of 1:44.43 in the 800m, improving from his 1:44.45 from the Nairobi world u20 championships; Olympic bronze medallist Hugues Fabrice Zango achieved 17.25m, in the triple jump, his best result this year in regular wind conditions.
